Youth Rally is a week long summer camp for youth living with various congenital birth defects, chronic illness, or various traumas that affect their bowel and bladder systems. The camp provides education about medical conditions, self-care techniques, encourages independence, and promotes self-esteem. Camp counselors teach youngsters the importance of setting goals and continuously working towards them.
“Every year I look forward to getting together with the friends I’ve made at Youth Rally and just being me… not the sick kid, or the tired kid, but me.”
– Cody Mitchem
Programming, planning and fundraising goes on all year round! Here are a few ways you can help young ostomates in our community (ages 11-17) attend 2017 Youth Rally camp in July:
1. Set up a personal fund-raising page
Share it with family and friends so they will also know about Youth Rally and have an opportunity to donate on your page. Youth Rally is established with FirstGiving. Click here to create your own fundraising page.
2. Become a Youth Rally Community Partner
Click here to download the Youth Rally Community Partnership Packet and learn more about the various sponsorship opportunities.
3. Use Amazon Smile
Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases when you choose Youth Rally. Support your charitable organization by shopping at smile.amazon.com.
4. Host a fundraiser (creativity is encouraged!)
5. Employer matching contribution
If your workplace matches contributions, take advantage of the opportunity to double your contribution!
6. Recruit a camper
Do you know any kids ages 11-17 that would benefit from attending Youth Rally camp? Camper applications are due by June 1, 2017. Questions about the application process can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
7. Sponsor a camper
Many of our campers and families face financial hardship related to medical expenses. The Youth Rally takes pride in the fact that campers are never turned away on account of inability to cover registration and/or travel costs. People like YOU make that possible each year! Sponsorship opportunities can be found on the Youth Rally website.
“Each year I learn something new about a child, another counselor, myself, and life. Seldom does one get the opportunity to be a mentor, supporter, friend, care provider, confidante, and at the same time have the ability to make a lasting impression on another human being who has overcome similar challenges.”
– Paul Hastings, Youth Rally President and CEO
The next Youth Rally camp will take place at the University of California campus in San Diego, California from July 17 – 22, 2017. For more information about Youth Rally visit www.YouthRally.org.
