Andrea Cross

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2009. By 2011 the disease became so aggressive that I underwent an emergency total colectomy and was given an ileostomy. One year later, I elected to have an internal pouch created, and lived happily and healthily until I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in 2016. I used my experience to write a series of survival guides:

You Don’t Look Sick: Quick and Dirty Tips for Surviving Ulcerative Colitis

My Other Bag’s a Prada: Quick and Dirty Tips for Surviving an Ileostomy

Unicorn Farts and Glitter: Quick and Dirty Tips for Surviving a J-Pouch

Each book includes information and tips that I wished I'd known during my journey. I also have a blog which details the different way my disease has affected me and resources for those living with IBD. When I’m not writing books (my favorite is science fiction), I love being a mom, reading, playing video games, watching TV, and eating. Especially eating.
