Ian F. Spratley was diagnosed with advanced bowel cancer in December 2005. He lives in Milton Keynes, England with his partner Annie, 3-1/2 bikes, two guitars, and a photo of his dog. It's Not Over Till the Bag Lady Rings is based on the author's online diaries and enable readers to get inside the mind of a bowel cancer patient to discover what it feels like being diagnosed and coping with this disease.
In the book, he deals with big issues, like confronting his own mortality, the effects of cancer on relationships, changes in his diet, and in Ian’s case ileostomy surgery — all while trying to remain positive. “Although the disease now appears to have gone, the consequences haven’t. I’m stuck with them. Of course, I am not alone in this; I cannot imagine any member of the cancer family getting off scot-free. Cancer might go, but it always leaves something behind—a reminder of its visit.”
