Having an ostomy means that I survived everything and I'm still here.

Azmina Verjee

We aren’t born with resilience or courage. We have to earn that.

I've lived with an ileostomy for 26 years. During this time, I've come to realize that overcoming hardship is not only possible but necessary. Suffering forced me to adapt to circumstances outside my control. Adversity isn't fun, but it's essential for change.

Challenge the negative thoughts in your head. Stand up for yourself. Your mind will believe anything you tell it.⁣ Say out loud to yourself... I am strong, I am resilient, and I am a survivor. Because you are.
