Hurricane Harvey has caused catastrophic flooding and devastating conditions along the Gulf Coast in Texas. CNN reported two estimates that put total losses at as much as $75 billion and an estimated 30,000 people will need temporary shelter. Thousands are displaced and many have lost everything they own.
We recently connected with Pia Chaudhury from Houston. Her father was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer and had colostomy surgery last April. The damage she described to us was upsetting. “Our house and cars could not be salvaged, and all of his colostomy supplies didn’t make it." Pia was dealing with an unlivable home, no transportation, and completely overwhelmed finding a new place for her mother and father to live. She reached out to an ostomy manufacturer who told her to contact the local ostomy support group for help, which led her to us. Kindred Box shipped Pia’s father enough supplies to last several months which brought a sense of relief to her family after everything they'd been through.
“Donated ostomy supplies were much needed from a financial perspective to recover what was lost, but also to give us peace of mind. It was one less thing to worry about when we were trying to re-build our lives and continue with my father's cancer treatment. We truly appreciate your help in our greatest time of need.” – Pia Chaudhury
One of the core values at OC is that "we are in this together." So, in the spirit of being #TexasStrong, we want to help more and we know you do too. That's why we are asking everyone to donate their excess ostomy supplies charity groups like Kindred Box. We cannot say thank you enough to all of the supporters who are making this mission possible. Every donation matters. Thank you in advance for your kindness!
