FAQs

Q: Who started OC and when did the publication launch?

A: OstomyConnection was founded by Christine Kim in May 2015.

Q: What kind of website is OC?

A: OstomyConnection is a global media and entertainment company. We are a publication for the millions of people around the world whose stories aren't represented — or often misrepresented — in the media. OC is the leading digital destination for ostomates.

Q: What is an ostomy?

A: An ostomy is a medical term used to generalize three main types of lifesaving surgery; colostomy, ileostomy, and urostomy. People need to have these operations for many different reasons; including cancer, diverticulitis, injury, inflammatory bowel disease, rare illnesses, Hirschsprung's, and more. A person with a colostomy, ileostomy, or urostomy must wear a pouching system on their abdomen to collect waste that exits the body through a stoma.
