We would like to be part of a new movement to help ostomates worldwide through mass connectivity. We want ostomates to know “you’re not alone” and “we’ve been there before.” We need more of this in the media — more ostomates who are willing to help raise awareness. You can share your story as part of our campaign #ColonlessComrades, dedicated to curating inspirational peer-to-peer stories about living with an ostomy.
Here are some helpful guidelines you can use to tell your story:
About: What do you want to share about yourself? e.g. age, where you live, hobbies, career.
Challenge: What was the illness you faced? What was challenging about it?
Choice: What was the surgery choice you made? e.g. ileostomy, J-pouch, urostomy, etc.
Effect: How did you feel pre & post-surgery?
Outcome: What did the illness/surgery teach you? What hope can you give to others?
Include at least one photo with your story. Please make sure photos are the largest available version; small images cannot be used. Include horizontal images. These should be at least 900 pixels wide by 500 pixels tall (bigger in either direction is okay). Send only images that you own.
We read all submissions and will respond as soon as possible. By submitting your story to OstomyConnection you acknowledge and accept our terms and authorize the use of reproductions for any purpose including, but not limited to, educational and other public media as may be deemed appropriate by OstomyConnection
Your story could be the breakthrough that someone else needs!
